Welcome to UZH Space
Connecting space research across disciplines because the greatest challenges of space can only be solved together.
The University of Zurich (UZH) is home to a diverse and growing community of researchers working on space-related topics across disciplines, including the natural sciences, life sciences, engineering as well as the social sciences and humanities.
UZH Space serves as the university-wide platform that connects this interdisciplinary expertise across the University of Zurich, bringing together researchers, students, industry, and public institutions to create new opportunities for interdisciplinary research, education, innovation, and outreach while strengthening the visibility and impact of UZH’s space ecosystem.

UZH Space @ Scientifica 2026
Come and meet us at Scientifica 2026, Switzerland's largest science festival! Visit our booth at the Irchel Campus on Sunday, 23 August 2026, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Discover how UZH researchers are exploring the universe, why the social sciences and humanities are just as essential to space research as engineering and the natural sciences, and put your skills to the test by attempting to land the Apollo 11 lunar module.

MUSIC OF THE SPHERES | When Music Meets Science
UZH Space cordially invites you to MUSIC OF THE SPHERES | When Music Meets Science, a special public event celebrating the intersection of music, philosophy, and astronomy. The event will feature a live piano performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations by pianist Julian Trevelyan, accompanied by stunning astrophysical images and simulations from researchers at the University of Zurich. As music and cosmic visualizations unfold together, the audience will be invited on a journey through sound, space, thought, and the wonders of the universe.
